Warm Smoke Testing Brisbane

Warm smoke testing verifies that smoke exhaust fans, pressurisation systems, and control interfaces operate correctly under simulated smoke conditions. QPT Services carries out warm smoke testing for commercial facilities across Brisbane in accordance with BCA Section E and AS 1851.

What is warm smoke testing?

Warm smoke testing uses a vaporised mineral oil base product at high temperatures to create smoke and to simulate the conditions that activate a building’s smoke control system. The test verifies that smoke detectors respond correctly, smoke mode sequences activate in the correct order, smoke exhaust fans reach the required airflow, and pressurisation systems achieve the specified pressure differential across stairwells and lift shafts.

The test is called “warm” smoke because the smoke is introduced at an elevated temperature to activate heat-sensitive detectors, as well as smoke detectors.

Warm smoke testing frequently identifies deficiencies in smoke control sequences, fan performance, or control programming that require rectification. QPT documents all deficiencies with photographic evidence and can manage rectification within the same scope.

Why QPT Services

Specialist smoke control knowledge: Warm smoke testing requires specialist knowledge of smoke control sequences, fan performance curves, and BCA compliance requirements. It is a distinct discipline within mechanical services.

Testing and rectification in one relationship: Where testing identifies deficiencies, QPT Mechanical can scope and deliver the mechanical rectification, engaging required sub-trades.

Compliant testing & documentation by TACA certified professionals: Every test produces an AS 1851-compliant test report with witnessed results, deficiency register, and recommendations.
