Adiabatic Cooling Systems Brisbane

As Queensland summers push condensing plant harder and energy costs rise, facilities with adiabatic pre-cooling have a measurable efficiency advantage. Adiabatic systems reduce the temperature of inlet air to critical electrical switch rooms, plantrooms, condensers and dry coolers, lowering head pressure, improving Coefficient of Performance, and reducing peak cooling load during the hottest periods of the year. QPT Services designs and installs adiabatic pre-cooling systems for commercial and industrial facilities across Brisbane.

How adiabatic pre-cooling works

Adiabatic cooling uses evaporative principles to pre-cool air before it enters a switch rooms, plant rooms, condenser or dry cooler. Water is introduced as a fine mist upstream of the heat exchanger or wet wall. As the water evaporates, it absorbs heat from the air, lowering the temperature of the air entering the coil. Lower entering air temperature reduces condensing pressure, which directly improves refrigeration & electrical systems efficiency.

Also known as evaporative pre-cooling, with inlet air temperatures regularly exceed 35 degrees Celsius during summer peak periods, adiabatic pre-cooling can reduce entering air temperature by 5 to 12 degrees.

QPT installs adiabatic pre-cooling systems on existing condensers, dry coolers, and air-cooled chillers, including water distribution pipework, air intake wet walls, nozzle manifolds, automatic controls, and water treatment provisions.

Adiabatic systems require clean water to prevent nozzle fouling and scale build-up on heat exchanger coils. QPT specifies appropriate filtration and water treatment as part of every installation.

Why QPT Services

Mechanical engineering depth: Adiabatic pre-cooling has to be sized and controlled correctly to deliver results. QPT’s mechanical engineering background covers the psychrometric design/operating parameters, refrigeration cycle benefits, not just the installation scope.

Design to commissioning: QPT delivers from specification through to commissioning and performance verification, with documented outcomes rather than just an installed system.

Combined electrical and mechanical scope: Controls wiring, power supply, and BMS integration for adiabatic systems sit within QPT’s combined electrical and mechanical capability.

Our Work

Recent Projects

At QPT Services we pride ourselves on full-stack solutions that follow compliance acts, regulations and accreditations. Below are just some of our recent projects.

Equinix

QPT services worked closely with ND&Y engineers to deliver a defect-free project on a 3 chiller upgrade on a live data centre. Works included decommissioning existing chillers and installing new chillers, including change over panels, Variable speed drives, and electrical and electrical control.

Time Zone

QPT services were engaged to complete the electrical package, including the main switch board, sub-boards, Clipsal C-Bus automation system for the architectural lighting, communication cabling, Communications rack and fibre.

IGA

QPT was trusted to deliver the electrical package for IGA’s flagship store in East Brisbane, including the main switch board, tenancy distribution board, power, architectural lighting, Communications rack, fibre, and data cabling.
